The Scottsdale Charros have canceled the 34th Annual Outstanding Students and Educators Banquet due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials say.

Charros Education Chairman Chris Rivera says the uncertainty of school resuming within Scottsdale Unified School District and the welfare of all attendees is of the utmost importance.

The outstanding students and educators that were to be honored at the April 17 event will still be receiving their awards and checks at a later date, in addition to a recognition insert in the April edition of the Scottsdale Independent celebrating SUSD’s students and teachers.

“I would like to thank Fred Bueler, Denise Pulk, and Dennis Robbins for their leadership and hard work in the planning of this event. Our hope is to find a special way outside of the Banquet to recognize those outstanding students and educators when the time is right,” Mr. Rivera said.
