Saguaro High athletic film room is on horizon

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board has approved $107,701 for design and construction of an athletics film room at Saguaro High School.

Willmeng Construction Inc. has been selected to complete the project using its Cave Creek Unified School District job order contract.

The film room project is reportedly in cooperation with Saguaro High School administration, football program and Saguaro Football’s Booster organization, to convert an old locker room into a state-of-the-art film room.

Saguaro Athletic Director Matt Harris has identified a phased approach to this project, according to an SUSD report, and is working on fundraising commitments from Booster Clubs and Saguaro Athletics supporters.

The new film room will be available to all Saguaro High School athletic teams during their individual seasons, the rport stated. The initial audio/visual, lighting control and seating commitment is $115,387 with additional improvements like paint, super graphics and flooring to come in future phases, the report states.

Electrical and structural improvements to the room will be funded using 2016 bond fund savings from an in-progress tennis court replacement project, the SUSD report stated.

The specific cope of work paid for from the bond funding is: structural and electrical design, new electrical lighting circuits and the construction of a concrete tiered theater platform in the space.
