Three major pharmacy chains across the Valley of the Sun will soon be offering COVID-19 vaccines to Maricopa County residents over the age of 75.

Fry’s, Albertson’s and Safeway are a part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccination, a collaboration between federal government, states and territories and 21 national pharmacy partners.

An HonorHealth official said the federal program is to begin locally on Thursday, Feb. 11. Meanwhile, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said the selected pharmacies received the vaccine the week of Feb. 8.

The Maricopa County Department of Health Services website lists 21 Valley pharmacies. All pharmacies require appointments, which are available for adults aged 75 and older in Maricopa County.

The vaccine available at the pharmacies is by Moderna.
