Preparing to compete at the collegiate level next year, four Notre Dame Prep football players signed letters of intent on Dec. 18 at a signing ceremony surrounded by friends and family.
The ceremony took place in between final exams in the Dale M. Jensen gymnasium at Notre Dame Prep, according to a press release.
Among the signees was NDP linebacker Brock Locnikar, 17, who is the 2019 recipient of the Valley of the Sun Chapter National Football Foundation “Ron Prichard Arizona Linebacker Award.”
He will head to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to play football at Harvard University, the release said.
“Since I was little, I’ve wanted to go to an Ivy League school,” Mr. Locnikar said in a prepared statement. “This is a dream come true.”
His teammates, offensive lineman Cade Bennett signed with Oklahoma State, while wide receiver Connor Butt and defensive lineman Spencer Roy both signed to play football at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
“I know exactly what I have signed up for,” said Mr. Butt in a prepared statement. “And, I’m very excited to play football and serve my country. Go, Army!”
NDP athletes who signed letters of intent last month:
Ayden Chanin, College of the Holy Cross, Massachusetts, swimming
Griffin Chewning, South Mountain Community College, baseball
Tag Bross, The University of Arizona, baseball
Andrew Knoll, Siena College, New York, golf
Opened in 2002, Notre Dame Prep at 9701 E. Bell Road in Scottsdale is a Catholic diocesan college preparatory high school with a co-ed enrollment of 849 students.
The school has received national recognition for the caliber of its academic, arts and athletic programs, the release noted.
