Jackson: Override funds are important, normal part of paying for school needs

Posted

As the treasurer of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, former Scottsdale school board member and parent, I urge you to support the SUSD District Additional Assistance Override.

These override funds are an important and normal part of how public schools pay for things like laptops, musical equipment, uniforms, playground equipment, shade structures and other important items not covered in the district’s operating budget.

These items are important to providing students with a much better and nicer school experience. Nice shaded playgrounds for our elementary school kids, musical instruments, good athletic equipment and uniforms, laptop computers and more are all important to a well-rounded school experience.

We have excellent public schools in Scottsdale that attract families and businesses to our community. This investment in our schools is a good one that ensures Scottsdale will continue to thrive and be a great place to live, work and raise a family.
