Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale closes five more branch locations

Posted

Following President Trump’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America released March 16 and updates on the CDC website, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale has announced the decision to temporarily close five Valley branch locations that had previously remained open to accommodate families in need after COVID-19 school closures.

The organization’s targeted reopening date is April 1 to coincide with the President’s “15 Days to Slow the Spread” plan, according to a press release.

“All along we promised to keep a number of our Clubs open for as long as we were following recommended federal and state guidelines, while keeping our kids and staff safe. The new guidelines released yesterday no longer exempt school and childcare facilities from closure and encourage everyone to stay at home,” a press release issued by BGCGS stated.

“The majority of our members voluntarily followed the request to stay home yesterday. Our first-day efforts to provide a safe place for children of health care workers and first responders only saw the addition of 11 attendees.”

While all of nine branches have closed, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley, serving the East Valley and Central Phoenix regions, will continue to keep a number of their Clubs open at this time. A list of their Clubs currently opened can be found at: https://bgcmp.org/updates/.
