The Arizona Community Foundation’s Kellenberger + Tollefson Center for LGBTQ Philanthropy is excited to announce that it has awarded $247,900 in grant funding to 27 nonprofit organizations serving LGBTQ people across Arizona.

Recipients of 2022 grants from the Kellenberger + Tollefson Center include the Grand Canyon Council Boy Scouts of America in Scottsdale.

According to a press release, this is the largest annual grant distribution in the 17-year history of the Kellenberger + Tollefson Center and ACF’s dedicated funds supporting the LGBTQ community. During the center’s last annual grant cycle in 2019, the total invested in the community was $40,000.

“We are proud to have this opportunity to invest in organizations that are actively engaged in work that supports the center’s mission to advance justice and opportunity for LGBTQ people and the communities where they live,” Steve May, chair of the Kellenberger + Tollefson Center Advisory Council, said in the release. “Thanks to the generosity of our Leaders Impact Fund and other committed donors who stepped forward to support our communities, the grants we make today will meet significant needs and provide essential resources during a critical time for LGBTQ Arizonans.”

Other recipients include:

  • Anytown Leadership Program, Inc. (Phoenix)

“We celebrate these grants made by and for the LGBTQ community and the important work of each recipient organization,” Barb Broderick, chair of the Kellenberger + Tollefson Center Grant Committee, said in the release. “The collective, impactful approach to philanthropy that the center has adopted allows us to be more responsive to our communities by awarding larger grants to more organizations whose services directly address the needs and aspirations of LGBTQ individuals.”

Each grantee was awarded the requested amount, up to a maximum of $10,000. The projects and programs that were funded respond to the center’s three priority areas of focus: Youth, aging/seniors and transgender people.
