Arizona Boardwalk schedules free family events this fall

Arizona Boardwalk at Talking Stick is inviting families to several free outdoor events taking place in the coming weeks featuring everything from superheroes to Halloween costumes to bugs.

Arizona Boardwalk is home to the OdySea Aquarium, Butterfly Wonderland and several other attractions and shops. The entertainment district is on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, just off the Loop 101 and Via de Ventura at 9500 E. Vía de Ventura.

All events listed below are free outdoor events, with no admission required. For information on any of the listed events, go to azboardwalk.com.

Meet super heroes, ride a zipline and more

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24

This festival is presented by Family Fun AZ and will feature:

  •  Batman, Captain America, Supergirl and Wonder Woman
  •  A 300-foot zipline for guests to fly on
  •  Bounce houses and slides
  •  Face painting, live entertainment and action-packed performances
  •  Raffle prizes, giveaways and local vendors for shopping

Fall Festival

2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22

Macaroni Kid N. Scottsdale/PV presents their fourth annual Fall Festival. Kids 16 and under and families are invited to participate in their not-so-spooky costume contest for prizes.

Other activities include character meet and greets, face painting, trick-or-treating, make and take crafts, activity stations, music, games and more.

Halloween Bash

11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29

The annual Family Fun AZ Halloween Bash welcomes kids 18 and under to enter to win a $1,000 cash prize for the best Halloween costume.

Then, trick-or-treat for candy, enjoy bounce houses, slides, face painting, live entertainment, family-friendly performances, shopping, raffles and giveaways.

Bugfest

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30

The Butterfly Wonderland Foundation presents the biggest bug bash of the year — Halloween edition.

Enjoy cockroach races, butterfly releases, a photo “hissing booth,” interactive bug zoo learning stations, edible insect treats, crafts and more. Wear your Halloween costume and be entered to win a prize.

This event is recommended for bug-lovers of all ages.
