What Mayor Woods leaves out is that the homeless can refuse all service offers and many do. And when they do they're allowed to continue breaking laws and lowering quality of life for Tempe taxpayers. Tempe's homeless problem won't improve until Corey Woods and most of the City Council are voted out of office. People with no business experience, people who've only worked in government jobs and have social work degrees, aren't capable of running a city.

Given the rapid aging of the Scottsdale population, we need all the multi-family and assisted living facilities we can build. We're building some - but not nearly enough. This City has never seen 3,000 multi-family homes built in any three year period in its history. There might be a big pipeline, but it's a slow moving pipeline that doesn't deliver housing at anything close to the demand. If we want to restore the disappearing "Family with Children" demographic, we need family friendly housing, too, and in big numbers. There is absolutely no Family Friendly housing in development. Scottsdale was built on 4,000' to 8,000' lots. Today we think anything less than two acre lots is "too dense". If we want families with kids to disappear, then we're doing precisely the right thing. If we think that's a bad idea (I do), someone needs to step up and lead an initiative to restore family friendly community development in our City.

Does the remodel include a long grab bar on one side of the deep water pool for disabled folks? We requested this years ago and never got a response. Does the remodel include an easier way for folks to get out of the deep water pool other than climbing out (takes a lot of strength) or lifting the rope and /or swimming under/over it to get to the steps? The deep water pool needs a small platform for this purpose, and would be inexpensive to build. Did I miss the survey you may have sent out asking pool users what they need???? Scottsdale residents can only control three types of school funding. The Capital Override is one of those three. With State funding such a volatile and inconsistent source of operating funds, the Override becomes even more critical. We have the lowest combined Property Tax Rate in the County. It has dropped every year for the last six years. Renewing the Override will not increase taxes, but it will protect the vitally important funds that our schools count on. On average every SUSD campus would lose $500,000 each year if the Override failed.

This extended tax, not an additional tax, would not go into effect until 2025, so any reference to current inflation is irrelevant. Why does he feel it necessary to block an opportunity for the voters to decide for themselves? The bill was passed by 71% of the Senate and 62% of the House, a fairly broadly supported bill. Our aging road system desperately needs this continued source of revenue. Would love to see this vetoed. As outgoing governor, not for him to dictate what happens 2-1/2 years from now.

Moratorium On Construction Of Homes: Not long ago Janik called for a Moratorium. Her endorsed candidates should be called the "Moratorium Slate" because that's precisely what she called for and they support her call. We learned about the Parque project this week. It's a fabulous repurpose of the old Crackerjax amu*****t park that's sat dormant for years. We learned about the Hovey project a couple of months ago. A stunning open space project that fits perfectly along the Loop 101 Freeway and at the Northwest corner of the airpark area. There is little doubt in my mind that the Moratorium Slate would kill those projects in a nano-second. They brag that they would have killed Museum Square, killed the Kimsey Project, killed the Gentry project. Three candidates promise thoughtful development and an increase in the supply of homes to replace those lost to Short Term Rentals. Ishac, Stratton and Zubia make sense to me. The City Council does our City a huge disservice if it does stuff like stopping the Parque from being built on a boarded up amu*****t park property.

Mayor LaMarr and colleagues - THANK YOU for voicing your concern on this issue. Party partisanship should not impact our local elections. This campaign will be over soon, but I am deeply concerned that the labeling, tribalism, and misstatements, along now with hyper-partisanism will discourage future commission and committee members, along with council candidates, from volunteering their time and talent to serve our town. I volunteered for public service, not politics.
