Construction of an extension of Gateway Freeway State Route 24 east of Ellsworth Road in Mesa will require an overnight ramp closure.

The westbound SR 24 on-ramp at Ellsworth Road is scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, to 2 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, for overhead sign work, according to a release.

For a detour, drivers can travel north on Ellsworth Road and access Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway via westbound Elliot Road or by using westbound Ray Road to northbound Hawes Road.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
