Taylor works as naturopathic physician

Posted

Name: Dr. Sasha Taylor, Naturopathic Medical Doctor

Town/neighborhood: I live in Chandler and work in Queen Creek.

When and why I moved here: I moved to Chandler in the summer of 2015 to pursue opportunities in naturopathic medicine.

What I like most about living here: I love the sunshine in Arizona! I am originally from a town just north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where rain and/or overcast is the norm. I enjoy the outdoors so the sunshine and landscapes of Arizona allow me to pursue this further. I have also grown to love the small town feel of the area I am living and working in. The communities in the southeast valley make me feel right at home!

What I do: I am a naturopathic physician that sees mostly pediatric patients. As a naturopathic physician, I focus on the whole patient and treat the root cause. Teaching children and their parents how to take control of health from a young age allows the children of today to grow into healthier, happier and more successful adults of the future and I am honored to get to be a part of that journey for families.

What I like most about what I do: The best part of what I do is working with children and families as they reach better health outcomes than they thought possible. Providing these resources to my patients is my calling and I enjoy watching them succeed using naturopathic medicine.

Changes I’d like to see in this area: I would like to see the southeast valley be the first area to reverse the trend of increasing childhood obesity levels. I believe we can have the healthiest kids in the state. I am excited to be a part of this change!

Favorite community cause & why: I have a soft spot for rescue animals. Both of my dogs are rescues as well as the cat and all of the horses I have had in the past were rescues. I have a passion for showing animals lots of love!

My family: I come from a very large, tight-knit family that made me who I am today. I now have a husband, bonus daughter and two dogs of my own that I adore.

My interests and hobbies: I enjoy running, lifting weights, hiking and camping. Most weekends, you can find me out on the trails all around Arizona and the Southwest, United States region. I also enjoy traveling to new places and usually find exciting hikes or marathons to participate in while visiting! My family and I are rarely caught sitting still.

The trait(s) I admire in others: Some traits that I admire most in others include empathy, open-mindedness, motivation to improve oneself and a sense of humor. I work daily to shape myself with these traits because I believe someone that is able to keep an open mind about new ideas but feel empathy toward the struggles of others while continuing to always improve themselves yet keep a good sense of humor are powerful people and who I want to surround myself with.

People who inspired me (and how): My cousin battled cancer in her 30’s. Through her journey, she inspired me to help others. She always encouraged me to be more than just a doctor but an important teammate in my patients’ health and lives.

My guiding philosophy: I find joy in helping children. My philosophy is that a healthier, happier and more successful life stems from taking control of one’s own health. There is no better time than now to start laying the foundation of health. Kids of all ages (0 to 100+ years old) are capable of healthy lifestyles with the proper guidance and resources. The gift of good health in childhood is a gift that keeps on giving through an entire lifetime and I am honored to get to be a part of it.
