San Tan Valley Quarterly BBQ takes place Oct. 22

Get ready for 13th San Tan Valley Quarterly BBQ.

This season’s event will take place from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22 at its usual 4-acre desert location, 27382 N. Dolores Place, San Tan Valley.

The location offers views of Picacho Peak and the Malpais section of the San Tan Mountains at the corner of Dolores Place and Olberg Road.

"We are pleased to be able to host San Tan Valley's only regular public event," said Neal Carter, the event's host.  "This is the 13th Quarterly BBQ, and it seems like every time it just keeps getting bigger. I guess as the area grows, so do the [number of] attendees.”

Past Quarterly BBQs have featured guests such as Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, Pinal County Supervisor Mike Goodman and state legislators Mark Finchem, John Fillmore and Jake Hoffman.

"It's a great way for an unincorporated community like San Tan Valley to get together, meet neighbors and celebrate," said Nick Myers, a regular attendee.

The event is free to the public. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be served. There will be ample, on-street parking, and special handicapped parking is reserved on the parcel itself with signage, lighting and a parking attendant available for inquiries or help. This year's cooks are students from Central Arizona College's culinary arts program.
