Queen Creek Town Council strategic planning session Feb. 28-29

Queen Creek Town Council and town employees will be attending a strategic planning session 3-8 p.m. Friday, Feb 28, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at the Community Chambers, 20727 E. Civic Parkway.

The meeting is open to the public.

Topics include discussion on the future of law enforcement services, from staying with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to contracting with another law enforcement entity or starting a municipal police force.

Times for specific agenda items are approximate --- the mayor and Town Council may adjust the order of the agenda items at the meeting, according to the agenda.

Friday, Feb. 28 agenda:

  • 3 p.m., discussion with Alan Maguire, economist with The Maguire Company.
  • 4:30 p.m., discussion on land use policy items.
  • 6 p.m., dinner (Town Council meeting break)
  • 6:30 p.m., training and educational segment with Cary Pfeffer, consultant.
  • 7:45 p.m., review of Saturday agenda.
  • 8 p.m., adjourn.

Saturday, Feb. 29 agenda:

  • 7:45 a.m., breakfast (Town Council)
  • 8 a.m., discussion on Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget overview.
  • 9:30 a.m., break.
  • 9:45 a.m., discussion on law enforcement services review. No action will be taken on this item.
  • 11:45 a.m., lunch
  • 12:30 p.m., discussion on drainage policies.
  • 1:30 p.m., discussion on council agenda format.
  • 2:30 p.m., break.
  • 2:45 p.m., discussion on utility policy items.
  • 3:45 p.m. wrap-up and action plan review.
  • 4 p.m. adjourn.
