Queen Creek High students help families in need this Thanksgiving
Posted
This Thanksgiving, Queen Creek High School is providing meals for more than 150 families.
In addition, the school is donating more than $2,500 in grocery store gift cards to families in need.
Volunteers from the boys’ varsity basketball team, link crew and student council collected food and donations through a drive earlier this month.
The donations are being sent through the Queen Creek Unified School District Family Resource Center.
According to the QCUSD website, the center only works with nonprofit organizations. It sends referrals to and for:
Department of Economic Security
Job service
AHCCCS, Health Care Connect
Free income tax service
Mental, dental, vision care
Immigration agencies
Women Infants and Children programs
Social Security offices
Clothing/food banks
Practical Portable Educational Project Inc.
Arizona Interagency Farm-worker Coalition Inc.
Red Cross
Community Legal Services
Head Start Programs
Adult Education Programs
The Family Resource Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The center is at 20435 S. Ellsworth Road inside Queen Creek Junior High School. For more information, call 480-987-5988.
