The Superstition Mountain Republican Club is starting the new year off with Pinal County Clerk of the Superior Court Amanda Stanford attending the Jan. 9 meeting.

The club's monthly meeting is 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Village Inn, 575 W. Apache Trail in Apache Junction, according to a release.

"You are also invited to join us between 5:30-6:30 p.m. for a social hour and the opportunity to share a meal and fellowship. The SMRC welcomes everyone seeking to be a more informed person within their community. We hope to see all of you at the meeting for an evening of fellowship and information," the release states.

Ms. Stanford has more than 13 years of experience in government and public sector finance, according to a release.

"She is committed to using current technology and innovative approaches to modernizing the workplace she manages," the release states.

She has a bachelor of science of accounting from the University of Phoenix. She is an alumnus of the Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Series, an honor accorded to just eight women chosen from across the state.

She was also a key collaborator in the conceptual development of Regional Court and, overall, continues to strive for the highest principles of integrity, professionalism, accountability and transparency in her office. One of the topics she will be discussing is about the new laws that have gone into effect regarding orders of protection, the release states.

"We will also be discussing the Bill of Rights --- these are the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which were adopted as a single unit on Dec. 15, 1791, and which constitute a collection of mutually reinforcing guarantees of individual rights and of limitations on federal and state governments," the release states.
