Five U.S. Army veterans and active military members have been awarded free lifelong memberships at Mountainside Fitness, including one who lives in San Tan Valley.

Mountainside Fitness honored veterans and men and women currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces through a Salute to Service program, according to a release.

The winners are: April Herigstad who lives in the San Tan Valley, Donna Hernandez of Phoenix, Terry Stallings of Mesa, Bijan Shokrgozar of Phoenix and Cameron Nottke of Surprise. All five serve or previously served in the U.S. Army, the release states.

The winners were nominated by loved ones, family and friends. The contest started in September and concluded on Veterans Day. The lifelong memberships will never expire, the release states.

The Mountainside membership not only includes the state-of-the-art gym equipment, but also access to basketball courts, more than 80 group fitness classes per week-per club, saunas and steam rooms.

"We are honored to acknowledge these veterans and the brave men and women serving our country,” Mountainside Fitness CEO and Founder Tom Hatten said in the release. "We always strive to give back to the community, because that is the Mountainside Way."
