What I do: I am the founder and president of Eagle Pathway, a faith-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides resources for low-income single parents, the homeless and youth who have experienced foster care. Resources include housing, food, clothing, household items, bible studies, mentoring, support groups and training. I enjoy helping people. So many of those who we serve are in crisis. Many of them express feeling hopeless. We encourage them and speak to them about the love of God. At the same time we provide them with resources they desperately need. When a new child comes in to foster care sometimes the foster families don’t have enough notice to prepare, so at our foster closet we have clothing, toys and supplies for these children to help ease the burden and help comfort the children. The smiles and hugs of appreciation from those we serve are what motivate me to continue serving our community.

Personal background highlights: I grew up in a broken home filled with suicide attempts, drug use and abuse. Having lived on my own when I was only 15 years old, I know many of the struggles these adults face.

My interests and hobbies: My travels have included North Holland/Amsterdam, Morocco and Mexico.

My family: For the past 22 years, I have worked with special needs children and adults to improve their quality of life. I fostered both children and adults until 2013, when the court finalized the adoption of my fifth child. I have three boys, ages 29, 24 and 10; and two girls, ages 9 and 8. With a desire to do more and a love for tiny homes, I founded Eagle Pathway in October 2015.

Favorite community cause and why: I would like to see more changes when it comes to permanent housing for the homeless and those aging out of the foster care system. Over 40% of youth who age out of foster care experience homelessness within the first 18 months of exiting. I would like to see more done to bridge this gap so these youth are better educated about the services available to them.

What am I promoting: Eagle Pathway Thrift Store has a variety of new and used clothing, shoes, household items and other miscellaneous items that we sell to help us fund our programs. We accept donations of clean new and used items that we can resell.

What I’m excited about and why: I am excited to be building our first tiny home and plan to build tiny-home communities with our community partners. We also plan to build and assist other nonprofits to construct tiny-home communities for those in need.
