A request to change the Queen Creek Area Plan land use designation of General Motors Proving Grounds in Mesa to light industrial will be considered at the Nov. 20 Maricopa County Board of Supervisors meeting.

The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Supervisors' Auditorium, 205 W. Jefferson in Phoenix.

The General Motors Proving Grounds is on the northeast corner of Ellsworth and Pecos roads. The applicant/owner is Cassandra Ayres of Beus Gilbert PLLC / Pacific Proving LLC, according to the meeting's agenda.

A rezoning is also being considered by the supervisors for 637 acres of the 1,191-acre property.

Existing utilities are: water, wastewater and fire from the City of Mesa; schools from the Queen Creek Unified School District; and police from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department or City of Mesa.

The county planning commission voted 5-0-1 on Oct. 24 to approve the change  subject to conditions.
