Haws: E-scooters ban in Queen Creek washes, light rail protests

Posted

Comment on "Protesters demand end to police crime-suppression sweeps on light rail," on page 10 of the Jan. 1, 2020 issue: I feel Valley Metro light rail has every right to use police to enforce the rules of using the light rail system.

Ms Castro should follow the rules like everyone else. If you are going to rely on Valley Metro for your transportation needs then you better learn what the rules are and follow them.

I personally do not use the light rail system but I do pay for car insurance, car maintenance and fuel in order to have transportation. If I did not get insurance or pay for gas, or maintain my vehicles, I would find myself without transportation also.

I am sick and tired of hearing the poor me and people feeling picked on because they are poor and people of color. Get with the program folks. It is not a free ride.

Comment on "E-scooters ban, other regulations revised," on page 4 of the Jan. 1, 2020 issue:  Since the Town of Queen Creek has rules about motorized vehicles not using the trail system along the wash, why are they not enforcing these rules?

My property backs up to the wash and there are often motorized vehicles going up and down the wash trail.

Sometimes during daylight hours and sometimes at night. Sometimes late at night I am awakened by a motorcycle using the trail.

If these rules are not enforced I am afraid others will decide to do the same thing. If you can’t fight them, join them mentality.

I could try and call on those who are breaking the rules but by the time I do they are long gone.
