In an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Queen Creek is implementing a number of changes at Desert Mountain Park, Founders’ Park and Mansel Carter Oasis Park. Playgrounds, skate parks and restrooms will be closed, beginning Friday, April 3.
The restrooms at the community arena at Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre will also be closed. Both splash pads were previously closed, according to a release.
While the parks remain open, visitors are advised to comply with Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s executive order to stay home, stay healthy, stay connected and ask that anyone still using the parks follow the recommendations from the CDC to help slow the spread (no groups of 10+ and maintain at least 6 feet distance) and wash hands frequently.
Additionally, visitors are advised to use caution, as the parks are not being sanitized due to a lack of supplies. The demand for cleaning and sanitation supplies for hospitals across the nation has decreased the availability of supplies for other organizations, including municipalities, the release states.
The town is encouraging residents to stay active and connected by providing daily programming on the Queen Creek Parks and Recreation Facebook page, as well as showcasing residents being “QC Neighborly” on several town social media sites.
