Arizona health officials have added over 100 deaths of COVID-19 to the state’s total, though nearly half of them are due to death certificate matching.

As of Tuesday morning, the Arizona Department of Health Services reports 105,094 cases and 1,927 deaths of the novel coronavirus, up 3,653 and 117 from Monday, respectively. The 117 is a new daily high for deaths, though AZDHS says 52 of them are from death certificate matching.

Arizona is one of eight states with over 100,000 cases. Arizona is the 14th most populous state in the nation.

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health reports 67,407 cases and 899 deaths in Arizona’s most populous county.

Maricopa County shows a case rate of 1,506 cases per 100,000 residents, using 2019 Census Bureau estimates. The state average is 1,444. Santa Cruz County has the highest at 4,404 cases per 100,000 residents.

According to AZDHS, 12,255 hospitalized cases have been discharged as of Monday.
