Thunderbirds Charities grants Arizona Helping Hands $50K

Funds from Thunderbirds Charities will assist Arizona Helping Hands in fulfilling emergency requests from families providing foster care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

AHH --- committed to continue serving Arizona’s most vulnerable population of more than the 14,000 foster care children --- appreciates the generous $50,000 and leadership of Thunderbirds Charities during the difficult time, according to a press release.

“To be able to provide our most vulnerable, the children in foster care, with the basic needs such as twin beds, cribs, diapers and wipes is gratifying – and what our organization is all about,” said Thunderbirds Charities President Tim Woods in a prepared statement.

“We are proud to support Arizona Helping Hands in their work in making a difference to the children in foster care and families who need us now more than ever.”

AHH has collaborated with the Department of Child Safety and 15 other foster care organizations to serve as an emergency response network, the release said.

Since closures began in March, AHH has remained open, providing essential needs to more than 800 children in foster care.

The organization has supplied beds, cribs, diapers, wipes, and more with home delivery and no-contact pickup options; with demand at an all-time high and donations at an all-time low, described the release.

AHH depends on Thunderbirds Charities to continue providing essential needs to children in foster care during the COVID-19 pandemic, the release added.
