Smith: Taxes are unfairly enforced if president allowed to slide on IRS bill

Posted

Many years ago the company that prepared our income tax made an error and it turned out we owed $3,000. At the time we were notified demanding the payment, my husband and I had separated. He said he would pay it, never did but didn’t let me know that.

One evening, a lady from the IRS came, knocked on my door and stated the amount had to be paid. She did not care what my financial circumstances were, offered no repayment plan, and proceeded with a deadline to pay or challenging circumstances would be forthcoming.

My ex did pay it, which was the right thing to do, but I find it extremely interesting and unfair if our president does owe the IRS the amount that is rumored he owes along with many others, if truth be told, who owe the IRS much more than I did.

Unfortunately, I guess it is who you know.
