Pieter Vos

Pieter, 86, passed away on November 12, 2020 at his home in Sun City West. He was surrounded by many who loved him. He was born on September 17, 1934 in Holland.
He studied through the years of German occupation of Holland in World War II & his grade school was accidentally bombed the day he played “hooky”! He attended Jr. College at Nyenrode University for Foreign Tra- de in Breukelen, Holland &
graduated in 1955. He received a Fulbright Scholarship from the US Govt. to Oregon State University & the University of Oregon to study foreign trade.
His journey from Holland to New York & then across the US was quite a challenge for the young Dutchman but he did great! He met his life partner of 48 years Harriet Meyers, graduated and got married all on their way to start his studies at Thunderbird Graduate School for Intl. Business in Glendale, AZ. He traveled all the way around the world 82 times!!
Pieter lived with his wife, daughter Sue & son John in Barbados, Cuba, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
In 1968, he became a US citizen & was so proud to be American & still enjoy his Dutch heritage. They continued on to Belgium, New Jersey, Thailand, Nebraska, Illinois, Germany, Hong Kong, Holland and finally retiring in Iowa.
They moved to SCW in 1997 & became involved in the Rotary club working on the International Guatemala Literacy Project. Pieter was an outstanding example of giving of Self first to Serve others! He loved spending time in Mexico, meeting new people and traveling.
Pieter is preceded in death by his wife, Harriet, 79 in 2015 and son John, 55 in 2017. His daughter Sue and husband Dave live in Panama a their son Sean and daughter Kristi live in
Florida.
