One Step Beyond names Madison Blanton as CEO

Posted

Phoenix-based One Step Beyond Inc., which provides education programs for intellectually disabled adults, announced the appointment of Madison Blanton as CEO.

The board of directors recently appointed Ms. Blanton to succeed the founder Mimi Rogers, who retired as chief executive officer, according to a press release. Ms. Rogers served as founder/CEO of One Step Beyond for 18 years.

Under Ms. Rogers' leadership, the organization has served more than 500 members and championed the rights of individuals with intellectual disabilities, the release said. She will maintain a position on the board and help with the transition process after retiring.

“When I started One Step Beyond, I had a vision for a better life for my daughter and others who have intellectual disabilities,” said Ms. Rogers in a prepared statement.

“Today the program is the standard for what day programming should be. It has been an honor to work alongside the One Step Beyond team. As Madison takes over, I am confident that the organization will continue to grow and build on this strong foundation.”

Before her appointment, Ms. Blanton was an executive director instrumental in expanding One Step Beyond programming to San Mateo and San Carlos, California, noted the release. She also served as director of development and communications, and director of programs.

Prior to joining the organization, Ms. Blanton held positions with Special Olympics Arizona and the Heard Museum. She graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of science degree with a focus on nonprofit leadership and management.

“I look forward to upholding Rogers’ vision of bringing our services to other markets,” said Ms. Blanton in a prepared statement.

“Our mission is clear. We will continue to empower adults who have intellectual disabilities to be independent, effectively seek and maintain employment and contribute to and achieve greater social participation in their communities . . . in Arizona, California and beyond.”

One Step Beyond, according to the release, empowers its members to achieve independence, self-sufficiency and employment through innovative culinary, education, fitness and arts programs as well as strategic partnerships with local businesses that enable participants to contribute to and socialize in their communities.

The organization has locations in the Phoenix area in Glendale, Peoria, Scottsdale and Surprise; plus locations in the California Bay area including San Mateo and San Carlos.
