Heard Museum plans reopening, extending exhibits, members only week

The Heard Museum has announced its reopening timeline with new policies and procedures in place.

The Heard Museum, according to a press release, will reopen to members on June 2-7, and to the general public on Tuesday, June 9.

A Members Only Early Entry  is 9 - 10 a.m. , the release said, noting that the museum is closed on Mondays and the Courtyard Café is temporarily closed.

Following current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Arizona State Department of Health, to offer a safe, comfortable and enjoyable visit for guests, the museum has implemented these  procedures:

• Museum attendance will be limited to 100 per hour, max capacity 240 visitors

• Online pre-purchase admission is encouraged for all visitors, save up to $3 for each online ticket purchase

• Face coverings and social distancing are required for staff and visitors for all indoor spaces with disposable masks and gloves available upon request and free of charge.


Museum summer schedule:

  • Members Only Week - Tuesday, June 2 - Sunday June 7
  • 10AM – 4PM Tuesday through Sunday
  • Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Open to the public beginning June 9  with the following hours:

  • 10 a.m. - 4 p.m, Tuesday – Thursday .
  • 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday  
  • 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.,  Saturday and Sunday

Exhibition Schedule Updates:

  • David Hockney’s Yosemite and Masters of California Basketry extended through June 28
  • Grand Procession: Contemporary Plains Indian Dolls from the Charles and Valerie Diker Collection extended through Sept. 7
  • Maria Hupfield: Nine Years Toward the Sun extended through Nov. 15
  • Larger Than Memory: Contemporary Art from Indigenous North America Virginia G. Piper Grand Gallery Exhibition originally scheduled to open May 1 will open late summer 2020.
