Desert Stages Theatre announces Master Classes for teens

Desert Stages Theatre, 7014 E. Camelback Road, Suite 0586 in Scottsdale, will offer classes to be led by two Broadway stars in June.
The Monday session, according to a press release, will be led by Broadway’s “Dear Evan Hansen” star and former DST actor, Sam Primack, noting that Monday’s, participants will learn to embody a character’s actions, integrating acting and singing components.
Exercises will include how to establish objectives and actions as well as how to activate the imagination, the release added.
Tuesday classes will be led by Broadway’s “Beautiful” actor James D. Gish and will focus more on technique, the release said of sessions that will emphasize audition techniques to help each actor investigate, select and prepare audition material appropriate to the individual and the audition call.
The class includes exercises in handling audition material, learning to look at auditions from the casting director’s point of view and understanding the business aspects and requirements of a musical theatre audition, the release stated.
The following is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.:
Master Class Monday
June 15, 22 and 29
Technique Tuesday
June 16, 23 and 30
Each class will be limited to 10 participants, ages 14 and up. DST welcomes and invites any aspiring teen actors ages 14 and up. The cost is $50 per class or $125 for all three classes.
Strict COVID-19 procedures will be in place to ensure the well-being of each participant, according to the release.
