Carol (Joanne) Pribyl

Posted

Carol, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 28, 2020. She was born December 21, 1933 in Independence, Wisconsin to Vitus and Valeria (Skroch) Reck.
On January 16, 1953 she married Robert Pribyl who survives along with their children: Mary (Hugh) Totten of Valparaiso, Indiana, David (Mary) Pribyl of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois and Jon (Michelle) Pribyl of Franklin, Wisconsin; and grandchildren: Samantha Kate Totten, Nicholas Hugh Totten, Cameron Joseph Pribyl, Tess Meredith Pribyl, Peyton Rae Pribyl & Ian James Pribyl. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marie Macek Jankowski.
Joanne grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Cudahy High School. She later attended Milwaukee Area Technical College to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She practiced at St. John’s, and St. Ann’s senior living facilities in the Milwaukee area and then as a private personal care nurse for many years. Joanne’s natural vocation was that of a seamstress, especially quilting, and she enjoyed creating clothing, crafts and other family treasures.
Joanne’s faith was an extremely important part of her life. She taught catechism and developed lifelong friendships through the church. Her relationships with the Pallatine group were an important, enduring blessing.
She was a great wife and mother. She was a fantastic grandmother. Joanne was many wonderful things but what made her uniquely special was that with her, there were no half measures. When you were a part of her life, she gave you all of herself. We all benefited. She will be missed immensely.
The family would like to thank the care providers that made her last days peaceful and comfortable.
A private family celebration of life will be held following cremation. Future celebrations will be held in Sun City, Arizona in January and Milwaukee, Wisconsin in August 2021. Memorial donations may be made to St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, 2801 E. Morgan Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53207.
