Sukhpal “Paula” Kaur started her new business --- Caring Transitions of Mesa North --- to give back to the community by helping families downsize and declutter, especially those with seniors.
People needn’t worry about the stress of cleaning, clearing and consolidating belongings in homes as the company assists busy families by clearing out homes of loved ones who may have moved into an assisted living facility or passed away.
Described as a senior-focused relocation and estate-clearing company, Caring Transitions is designed to manage many aspects of a senior move, including assisting with the downsizing process to provide a safer living situation.
“People going through transitions can be vulnerable and emotional, especially seniors and those dealing with loss. At Caring Transitions, we are here not only to help with the physical relocation or estate clearing, but to also support you as a resource and an advocate. We are here to make your transition as stress-free and seamless as possible,” said Ms. Kaur in a prepared statement.
Clients can customize services to best fit their needs with trained professionals who handle such tasks as decluttering, organizing, packing, moving, resettling; in-home estate sales and online auctions, estate clearing and preparing homes for market, according to the release.
Ms. Kaur, whose children are ages 8, 16 and 18, worked mainly for her husband but was determined to find a career or a business opportunity that would allow her to make a difference in the community.
“When I found Caring Transitions, I saw an opportunity to grow a business that could really make an impact on the lives of the people in my region. I want my clients to know that Caring Transitions is unique because of our focus on compassion,” said Ms. Kaur, 41.
Speaking to Independent Newsmedia, she described her business endeavors with Caring Transitions of Mesa North and her desire to serve not only Mesa but surrounding areas.
• Where do you reside? Chandler
• Are you an Arizona native and if not where are you originally from? I am born and raised in India, migrated to USA in 1997.
• What does your family consist of, ie: spouse, kids, pets, etc.? I live with my three kids and their dad.
• What is your professional background or a brief bio? I have been a stay-at-home mom for last 19 years. Have little experience with family business and franchise owned restaurants. Wanted to complete education with a bachelor degree but --- for some personal issues couldn’t pursue it --- still thinking about completing that.
Always wanted to connect with or start my own non-profit organization to help age out foster youth, so still devoting some of my time to support this passion by volunteering with one of the organization.
• Is this the first business started, if not what are the others? Yes, this is my very first business I started as sole and individual owner; my husband has businesses where I use to work part-time, but since there were three partners, I was not a part of ownership.
• Describe the purpose of the estate clearing business and the importance? In my opinion, estate-clearing business is more like to finding home for the items where those items are treated the same as the first owner was treating it.
Because there are so many emotions that are connected with those items by the first owners, and because now since they are downsizing or relocating, it is hard to take all items with them so owners decide to sell those items with can help in offset the price of clearing house.
• What things will be done in this “new normal” for entering people’s homes, handling belongings, etc. now that the pandemic has heightened an awareness of health, safety and cleanliness? In this “new normal,” I personally will be very careful for our society and employees by making sure that the property is not being used by any individual who suffering with COVID-19.
Then, if I see there is any possibility of contamination, then I will make sure that property is locked for at least a week or two. I will avoid estate sale for everyone’s safety and offer other options of liquidations.
• Do you have a staff and how many are on staff if so? I have four employees at this moment. In that I have three team members, one BDR, and fifth will be myself.
• What are some of the customizable services? Like I mentioned before I will avoid estate sales until things are little better, unless someone wants to pay more to get estate sale done. But with other liquidation options, I will be able to perform that social distancing effortlessly.
For sure I will be using personal protective equipment. Also, I will make sure before we come in contact with employees and buyers we assess their medical condition by taking temperature and asking a few question on their current health condition.
