Union Coffee Co. receives Peoria mayor’s award
Carlat presents restaurant of month
Posted
Mayor Cathy Carlat awarded Union Coffee Co. as the Mayor’s Restaurant of the Month for May 2021.
Located at the northwest corner of 67th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, Union Coffee Co. takes pride in serving the very best craft coffee, alongside a warm hello and friendly smile.
Brian and Kristin Frey founded Union Coffee Co. in 2017 as a space to bring people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and generations together.
“Union started as an opportunity to be in the community. We wanted people to enjoy craft coffee and feel welcomed and loved,” Ms. Frey said. “Our goal is to treat everybody well. We know our customers, and it brings us so much joy to be able to give encouragement, a compliment — whatever it may be to help them have a good day.”
When customers enter the shop, they immediately feel welcomed as they take in the fresh coffee aroma coming from the in-house roaster. A beautiful mural depicting Arizona, created by a local artist Zac Rollins, adorns the wall; while students and professionals with laptops gather around a handcrafted table suited for a gathering.
At Union, customers can expect a drink made from the freshest beans possible, roasted on site by seasoned roaster Jon Runion. The beans are single-sourced from companies who supply quality, direct-trade, organic coffees. Mr. Frey shares they are intentional in prioritizing relationships with businesses with fair treatment of farmers. This attention to detail and exceptional roasting has caught the attention of other local coffee shops who source their coffee from Union’s specialty brews.
“Union Coffee provides a unique selection for residents and out of town guests to enjoy good company and specialty coffee in our great city,” said Councilmember Michael Finn. “The Palo Verde district is proud to have this establishment as part of our business community.”
Whether patrons are in the mood for a classic cup of coffee, espresso, or a specialty latte or tea, Union has it all. Delicacies like the Affogato, espresso over gelato, provide the perfect pick-me-up for warm Peoria summers; while the Gallon to Go provides enough to share a favorite blend with others. Those looking for a bite to eat can grab a freshly baked muffin or scone, which are delivered daily by a local Peoria baker.
Union Coffee Co. is located at 6750 W. Thunderbird Road.
They offer dine-in and patio space, along with online ordering.
