Republic Services sponsors community cleanup, hosts open house

Opportunity to see proposed WestWing Recycling & Transfer Facility location, March 6

Posted

Republic Services will collect and dispose of trash that was illegally dumped near the Agua Fria riverbed and Tierra Del Rio from 8 to 11 a.m., March 3, according to a news release.

Area residents are welcome to participate in the community cleanup. Otherwise a second open house will be available, March 6.

Republic team members will lead the event and provide volunteers with proper safety equipment and refreshments.

A Bobcat will be on-site to dispose of bulk and heavy items.

The efforts come as the waste management company prepares to host its second open house in support of the proposed WestWing Recycling & Transfer Facility.

Plans call for the facility to be located on an industrial tract north of Loop 303, adjacent to the WestWing Power Station.

The Northwest Valley is currently the only part of Maricopa County that does not have a recycling and transfer facility, according to the release.

The second open house will be held at the proposed site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 6. COVID-19 safety protocols will be strictly enforced.

Members of the community wishing to participate in the cleanup or open house are asked to email RSVP@RoseMoserAllynPR.com.

To access the cleanup site, travel north on 107th Avenue, take a left on Hatfield Road, and then a right on 109th Avenue. Go north until arriving at the southwest corner of the Tierra Del Rio HOA.
