Peoria's POGO Destinations to launch Oct. 29
Peoria offers a free weekend circulator service to residents
Posted
The city of Peoria will launch its free weekend circulator service, POGO Destinations, Oct. 29.
The service had been discontinued due to the pandemic.
Residents can hop on the circulator and bounce around town to places like Peoria’s trail system, Park West stores and restaurants, and Arizona Broadway Theatre.
“We are one Peoria and POGO Destinations is here to connect residents to points of pride, events and destinations within our entire city – north to south,” Mayor Cathy Carlat said. “The circulator will provide the opportunity for residents to conveniently access theaters, shopping and spring training games.Residents who live in the north can easily share in points of interest in the south, such as Second Saturdays in Old Town and unique dining at Park West; residents who live in the south can effortlessly access areas north, such as the mountainous hiking trails.”
The purpose of POGO Destinations is to connect residents to various Peoria points of pride, encouraging them to explore the entire city from north to south. There are three routes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., taking Peoria residents to major locations like the following:
• Four Corners area (Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road)
• Sunrise Mountain Library
• Arizona Broadway Theatre
• P83 Entertainment District
• Old Town Peoria
• Rio Vista Community Park
• Park West
• Pioneer Community Park
• Trails
“With so many exciting things to do and see in Peoria, the launch of POGO Destinations brings it all together,” said Jay Davies, Peoria Interim Public Works Director. “These routes were designed to reach residents in all corners of the city, and allow them to discover destinations outside their traditional paths of travel. Onboard videos will highlight points of interest along each route, providing greater awareness of all Peoria has to offer. Whether transportation has been a limiting factor, or adds a layer of convenience and safety, the POGO Destinations service will be a game changer.”
POGO Destinations riders will be able to track the location and progress of the circulator bus by downloading an app to their mobile devices. The TSO POGO app is available as a free download for Apple and Android devices.
