Peoria veterans shop for Christmas compliments of Auxiliary

More than 300 holiday gifts were selected by Phoenix-area veterans for themselves and their family members compliments of the annual Christmas shop event through the American Legion Auxiliary John J Morris Unit 62, 9847 W. Desert Cove Ave., Peoria.

Traditionally held at the Phoenix VA Care facility, this year the event was held at the Luke Greenway Post, 364 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, due to COVID precautions.

“No one wanted to see the event canceled and it made sense to hold this long-standing tradition at the first American Legion Post in Arizona,” West Valley District 11 ALA president Tina Ganados said.

Veterans selected various items including clothing, linens, comforters, jewelry, toys and shoes.
