Peoria Unified serves free meals to students
Posted
The Peoria Unified School District will once again provide breakfast and lunch meals free to any child, age 18 and under starting Thursday, Sept. 10.
Lunch and breakfast curbside service will be served at 36 school sites through Dec. 31, or until further notice.
Meals are available for curbside pick-up by car, or walk-up. Parents can pick up curbside with or without their child present. Children do not have to be enrolled in the Peoria Unified School District to participate.
Meals for those 19 years or older will cost $1.75 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch. The menus are available on the district’s website at www.peoriaunified.org.
Due to the potential volume of meals and to make meals accessible to everyone, the current bus deliveries will be phased out to allow for all curbside pickup.
Students attending class in person on campus will receive free breakfast and lunch during normal mealtimes. The United States Department of Agriculture, which funds the program, has the right to discontinue at anytime. For more information, visit the district’s website.
