Peoria police accept homeland security grant

The Peoria Police Department accepted a grant from the Arizona State Department of Homeland Security in the amount of $51,468.

These funds will assist in further integrating Peoria as part of the Statewide Disaster Response Program, documents said. This will be done by sustaining and enhancing the Terrorism Liaison Officer program.

The funds will be used to purchase a new TLO vehicle, replacing the current vehicle that has reached its useful life, documents said.

The TLO program functions as a field intelligence unit supporting police tactical, hazardous material, explosive special operations and uncommon event types.
