Peoria locations among re-opening Harkins sites

Four West Valley Harkins Theatre locations are among the statewide theaters the chain will re-open Friday, Aug. 28, the company announced Tuesday.

Days after Harkins first announced it would be re-opening only three locations -- all outside of Maricopa County -- the chain announced its plan instead to re-open all Arizona locations, and beyond, for in-person movie showings.

“Ultimate Moviegoing is back in ALL theatres across Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas,” the chain posted to its Twitter account. “With our rigorous safety and cleaning protocols in place, we are thrilled to begin welcoming guests back.”

The two Peoria locations are Arrowhead Fountains 18, 16046 N. Arrowhead Fountains Center Drive, and Park West 14, 9804 W. Northern Ave.

Other West Valley locations also set to re-open this Friday include Estrella Falls 16, 15010 W. McDowell Road, Goodyear, and Gateway Pavilions 18, 10250 W. McDowell Road, Avondale.

On its website, Harkins listed its “Health & Safety” measures in place, which include face coverings required for all team members and guests, safety shields installed throughout the theatre, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing, socially distanced seating, reduced touch points, daily employee health screenings, and “hospital grade air filters and increased fresh air circulation.”

Harkins Theatres was founded in Arizona in 1933. With 34 locations in five states, Harkins is the fifth largest theatre chain in North America.
