Northwest Valley Connect asks Peorians to help with transportation

Posted

Want to help the community?

Northwest Valley Connect assists the many Northwest Valley seniors over 65, veterans, and people with disabilities who cannot drive themselves.

Nearly 75% of the rides the nonprofit provides are for medical appointments.

One way to help is to volunteer as a ride facilitator; this work can be done from home or at their call center during one 4-hour shift per week.

The organization is also sorely in need of additional drivers who can use their own vehicles, as well as drivers for Northwest Valley Connect vans. Drivers who use their own vehicles can receive partial mileage reimbursement.

Regarding shifts, drivers may set their own schedule and NVC will accommodate its volunteers, whether it is one day a month or a couple of days a week.

For more information on volunteering for NVC, please call Gail Christianer, NVC volunteer coordinator at 623-282-9300 or email her at gchristianer@northwestvalleyconnect.org.
