Memorial for 20th anniversary of 9/11 to be held in Peoria

Posted

A group of West Valley public safety agencies are coming together in honor of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, 10-11 a.m., Sept. 11.

The Peoria Fire-Medical Department in partnership with the Peoria Police Department as well as Glendale and Sun City fire departments are organizing a one-hour memorial at the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Mariners Way in the Peoria Sports Complex.

A large American flag will be displayed across 83rd Avenue by two ladder fire trucks.

The event is an opportunity to pay homage to the lives lost after the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

Drivers will be invited to pass under the flag, interact with public safety members, leave messages and take photos.

An Honor Guard and Pipes & Drums will also be in attendance.
