Liberty High School senior awarded Flinn scholarship
Posted
Liberty High School senior Sylvia Lopez was recently awarded the Flinn scholarship.
Lopez is one of 20 high-achieving students in Arizona to receive the prestigious scholarship.
The Flinn scholarship covers tuition, fees, and room and board to an Arizona public university. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for a three-week intensive overseas seminar, at least one additional study-related travel in the United States or internationally, mentorship, invitations to cultural events and membership of a community comprised of scholars and alumni.
The package is worth an estimated $115,000.
Lopez plans to attend Arizona State University in the fall, majoring in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Human Systems Engineering. She is also co-enrolled in Peoria Unified’s Medical Engineering Technology Professional Academy, and is already making strides in her pursuit of being an engineer.
