Residents should update their voter registration every time they move.

July 5 is the deadline to update information for the Aug. 2 primary election.

While the city of Peoria will not be participating in the primary election, other state- and county-wide candidates will be on the primary ballot.

To register to vote for the first time or to update your voter registration information, including your address, name, or political party preference, visit servicearizona.com.

Due to voter-approved changes to the Peoria city charter in 2020, if a city council election has only two competitors, which it does this election cycle, it will automatically revert to the general election, held this year on Nov. 8.

This year, there are two competitive elections for Peoria City Council — one for mayor pitting former city council member Bridget Binsbacher and newcomer Jason Beck, as well as one for representation of the Acacia District, pitting incumbent Vicki Hunt against newcomer Jennifer Crawford. Both will forgo the primary election and be put to voters for the general election on Nov. 8.
