Excellence in financial reporting awarded to Peoria Unified

Posted

The Peoria Unified School District was recently awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International.

The Certificate of Excellence recognizes that Peoria Unified has met the COE program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. Peoria Unified earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.

“The COE’s mission is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting,” ASBO International Executive Director David Lewis said. “The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.”

Peoria Unified Chief Financial Officer Michelle Myers said the certificate demonstrates Peoria Unified’s ongoing commitment in providing accurate financial reporting and transparency for the community.

“We are pleased to receive the Certificate of Excellence again this year,” she said.

Peoria Unified School District is located in the Northwest Valley of Peoria, and is home to 42 public schools and more than 37,000 students and 4,000 staff, serving as one of the largest employers in the West Valley and one of the largest unified school districts in Arizona.
