SUN CITY WEST, AZ - Devoted wife and mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Bohls age 82, was born into eternal life on July 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born in Burlington, IA on December 11, 1939, the second oldest of 7 children. She obtained her degree in Art with a minor in education from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA and her master’s from Western NM University in Silver City, NM. Education was a big part of Betty’s life, she put her degree to use as an elementary teacher for 40 years. We find comfort in knowing her love for education and knowledge lives on in the thousands of young lives she touched.
Betty had an unwavering faith in God and lived her life in service to her faith and church. She lived life as a Christian and displayed a personal testimony on how to treat others and serve God.
She was a wonderful wife; she took pride in her marriage and was completely devoted to Ron. Almost 60 years with Ron…you know she had some world class patience! Betty swept Ron off his feet literally and figuratively at a college dance. She caught his attention with her beauty, and she noticed his killer dance moves. It was fate, they were great partners and won the jitterbug contest that night! The dance lasted for almost 60 years!
Betty took an interest in Ron’s career as a coach, she often would signal Ron during a game with advice or encouragement. She knew Ron so well that the advice was usually exactly what he needed! He trusted her opinion and would often implement her suggestions.
Her love and dedication to family was important to her, she absolutely loved it when the family visited. Making meals three-or four-times a day during family vacations, was not a burden for Betty. That’s just the way she was.
She projected kindness! She will be remembered with a smile on her face, laughter in her heart and jellybeans in her pocket. She had the power to make those around her feel better.
She was a fierce patriot! Her love for her country was unbelievable, she wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed was right.
Betty was a talented artist. We all have our signed “EBohls” paintings hanging somewhere in our homes. These are now priceless to us, and we will cherish them always.
She was active in her community. Betty regularly attended dance classes at the rec center. She combined two of her loves; thrift shopping and giving. She often went shopping not for herself but for underprivileged children. She also had a beautiful singing voice, which was displayed in the church choir.
What we loved and learned from our mom was her kindness. She was kind to everybody; she had a giving heart and saw the good in everyone. She had the rare ability of giving life advice without being judgmental. She just always had the right words to make you feel better or to give you encouragement to face life’s problems.
Elizabeth was survived by her husband, Ronald; five children, Greg (Becky) Bohls of Las Vegas, NV, Michele (Greg) Hemmerlin of Mesa, AZ, Kevin (Adriana) Bohls of El Paso, TX, Christina (Todd) Gleadle of Smithton, IL and Tricia (Ryan) Shepherd of Fort Wayne, IN; eleven grandchildren, Ashley Mafi (Manu), Tyler, Kyle, Emilee Park (Tyler), Michael, Hunter, Nicole, McKenzy, Caitlin, Adam, and Aiden; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Teresa (Mark) Panko; two brothers, Patrick (Jessica) Daly, Chuck Daly and many other family members.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, William and Eva Daly; two brothers, Michael Daly and Bernie Daly; a sister, Rose Gonyo and a grandson, Kevin Bohls.
