Pop-Up Peoria opens to the public

Pop-Up Peoria will open to the public at Park West, April 9, providing an innovative space for community members to connect.

Artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and experts in a variety of activities, programs and interactive experiences can come together to collaborate, learn or shop curated local gifts and products.

“By partnering with the Park West team, local business owners, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem at ASU, we are curating stronger community partnerships, while offering interesting programming in a unique and fun environment for the benefit of Peoria residents,” Mayor Cathy Carlat said. “Park West offers a fantastic dining, entertainment and retail experience and we are thrilled to join forces to bring Pop-Up Peoria to our community.”

As the name implies, Pop-Up Peoria is not a permanent store but rather a temporary concept that connects the city of Peoria with the business and residential communities to bring new retail and interactive experiences to the area.

The city of Peoria developed this concept in partnership with Park West, CIRE Equity, Peoria Forward, and The Grand Project Shoppe to give local residents, entrepreneurs and artisans a place to connect, learn, and create.

The front of the store will have retail space for a collection of featured Peoria artisans, courtesy of The Grand Project Shoppe, while the back portion will be a programmed community space.

In that community space, Arizona State University’s J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute will host entrepreneurship classes, business pitching practices and co-working opportunities.

The city of Peoria also will offer sustainability classes, library storytimes, code compliance workshops, neighborhood watch meetings and more.

As visitors move through the Pop-Up Peoria space, they can shop local, curated products, explore entrepreneurship opportunities, and enhance their skills in a variety of areas.

“Peoria has a growing ecosystem of entrepreneurs, innovators and artisans,” said Kristin Slice, senior program manager for Peoria Forward and ASU’s Edson Institute. “Pop-Up Peoria will be a fun, accessible way for the entire family to explore entrepreneurship and find ways to support their neighbor’s entrepreneurial journey.”

Pop-Up Peoria is at 9744 W. Northern Ave., Suite 1750, in the Park West shopping center.

The city of Peoria is hosting a grand opening event on Saturday, May 1, at 10 a.m. with the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.

In the meantime, visitors can stop by Pop-Up Peoria Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information about the Pop-Up Peoria schedule and offerings, visit www.popuppeoria.com.
