Centennial's Cabello claims Week 2 player vote

Centennial linebacker Christian Cabello knocked away a two-point pass to preserve the Coyotes' 13-12 Week 2 win over Millennium.

 That play helped him earn the West Valley Preps player of the week award for Week 2.

Cabello won a two-man race for player of the week, garnering 2,030 of the 4,572 votes cast.

In addition to the pass break up, Cabello led the Coyotes with 11 tackles.

Liberty senior running back Zach Wallace placed second with 1,436 votes. In the Lions 42-6 rout of Boulder Creek, Wallace rushed for 145 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries.

In third place was Willow Canyon senior wide receiver/defensive back Donovan Williams with 446 votes. In the  Wildcats'  42-7 trouncing of Tucson Flowing Wells, Williams finished with 10 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns, two receptions and made an interception

For the sixth straight year, player of the week honorees, including Cabello, will win more than bragging rights.

Celebrity Tux and Tails, returns as the sponsor of the player of the week poll. The store, at 9240 W. Northern Ave., Suite 103-A in Peoria, will provide each winner a free rental redeemable any time this school year.
