ASU's Project Cities gets another year in Peoria

Posted

The Peoria City Council approved an agreement with Arizona State University for year two of the Project Cities partnership.

The Project Cities partnership matches students and faculty with Peoria staff members, who serve as project leads, to study a variety of issues in support of Peoria's strategic initiatives.

Each semester, the program generates reports that provide research, analysis, and recommendations that help shape Peoria's approach to these real world opportunities.

Last year's effort included work around water conservation, placemaking, transportation infrastructure, smart city technology, and Skunk Creek.

Projects for year two will include sustainable waste solutions, COVID community needs assessment, COVID impact to businesses, pandemic messaging, urban forestry, and a sustainability plan.

Previously, the city council approved an agreement with ASU for year one of the partnership on June 18, 2019, for the 2019-2020 academic year.
