On Saturday July 8, the West Valley Arts Council hosted One Step Beyond Fine Arts Program participants and opened an exhibit of their art at the WVAC Arts HQ Gallery in Surprise, Arizona.

Artists go beyond in Surprise exhibit

One Step Beyond fine art works on display through Friday

On Saturday July 8, the West Valley Arts Council hosted One Step Beyond Fine Arts Program participants and opened an exhibit of their art at the WVAC Arts HQ Gallery in Surprise, Arizona.

The gallery focused on providing innovative, diverse, and intentional art experiences that are educational and accessible to all people showcased work from both emerging and seasoned One Step Beyond artists who seek to engage communities through their meaningful art pieces.

The One Step Beyond exhibition at Arts HQ Gallery, 16126 N Civic Center Plaza, will be on display until Friday, Aug. 5.

“I hope to encourage more equality in the arts and for our artists to have the freedom to achieve their own unique artistic pathway,” said One Step Beyond Fine Arts Specialist Kristy Bullock. “The individuals I work with have a huge passion for the arts. One Step Beyond and the West Valley Arts Council help make their vision a reality.”

Arts HQ Gallery exhibits are free and open daily to the public; primarily relying on the generosity and support of sponsors, donors, patrons, and all who recognize the importance of the arts.

The Arts HQ Gallery executes six to eight exhibitions per year as well as various performances, festivals, and open air markets showcasing the talent and creativity of individual artists, musicians, performers and artisans. Additionally, the gallery hosts a myriad of community events, workshops, and lecture series promoting education, healing, understanding, creativity, and wellness.

The West Valley Arts Council serves 13 municipalities in the West Valley as an advisory, creator, and coordinator for arts programs including arts venues, grants management, arts festivals, public art, arts education, and regional arts promotion. By creating strategic partnerships, WVAC uses its resources to grow and strengthen arts and cultural opportunities.

Phoenix-based One Step Beyond, Inc. (OSBI) is a private, nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive programming and services for adults who have intellectual disabilities.

One Step Beyond empowers its members to achieve independence, self-sufficiency, and employment through innovative culinary, education, fitness, and arts programs, as well as strategic partnerships with local businesses that enable participants to contribute to and achieve greater social participation in their communities.
