Arizona has added 939 cases and 16 deaths of COVID-19 overnight, according to the state Department of Health Services.

As of the morning of Saturday, May 8, the ADHS reports 868,382 positive cases and 17,407 deaths of the coronavirus.

  • Mohave County: 721
  • Navajo County: 533
  • Pima County: 2,403
  • Pinal County: 876
  • Santa Cruz County: 176
  • Yavapai County: 505
  • Yuma County: 834

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
