Abrazo Arrowhead named ‘Best Hospital’ by US News

Posted

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus and its satellite, Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, are included in Best Hospitals 2020-21 released by US News & World Report.

Inclusion in the Best Hospitals rankings and ratings places the hospitals among an elite number of health care providers that received “Best” honors, according to US News.

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus earned high performing rankings for five adult procedures and conditions:

  • abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
  • congestive heart failurure
  • colon cancer surgery
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • hip replacement

The evaluation of Abrazo Arrowhead Campus also includes data from Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, a satellite of the Arrowhead Campus, earning Abrazo Arrowhead a spot among the top five Phoenix metro area hospitals, according to U.S. News.

Ratings in procedures and conditions focus on typical Medicare patients and eligibility is based on the number of patients treated. Rankings were generated by evaluating data in a variety of medical specialties and procedures for nearly 5,000 hospitals across the U.S.

Serving the northwest Valley since 1988, Abrazo Arrowhead Campus is a teaching hospital and known for its surgical services, cardiovascular care, orthopedics, women’s and other services. It is home to Abrazo’s General Surgery Residency and Internal Medicine Residency programs, which help bring new physicians to the community.

Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix was founded in 1988 as one of the first hospitals solely dedicated to cardiovascular care. Its leadership continues through introduction of new procedures and research, and in January it was recognized as the only  Western U.S. hospital with accreditation for treatment of chest pain, cardiac catheterization, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

“Awards by independent bodies like US News validates the incredible work by physicians and staff that we see every day in our hospitals. This year has been especially challenging as we navigate through the novel coronavirus pandemic, but we strive to provide excellent care for all,” said Abrazo Health Chief Executive Officer Brian Elisco. “We continue to invest in our ability to provide the highest level of care for the Glendale community and provide innovative cardiovascular care for the entire state of Arizona.”
