Yannik Paul of Phoenix overcame a five-stroke deficit heading into the final round of the 77th Arizona Open to ultimately claim the contest by two strokes.
Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in Gold Canyon hosted the event from Aug. 3-5, providing Mr. Paul with the first-place finish and Gilbert resident Brandon Meyer, who finished tied for 11th, with the Low Amateur Trophy.
Mr. Paul started the event off shooting a 2-under-par 70 but clocked a pair of 8-under 64s in the final two rounds to win the tournament. He shot seven birdies to close out the third round to fill out his 18-under 198.
Mr. Meyer shot a 2-under 70 in the first and third rounds but deposited an 8-under 64 in the second round to enter the final round in second place. He ultimately finished with a 12-under 204.
Blake Cannon of Mesa and Caleb Ramirez of Blythe, California finished tied for second with scores of 16-under 200. Mr. Cannon dropped out of first after shooting a 2-under 70 in the final round to follow up his other scores of 8-under 64 and 7-under 65 in the first and second rounds, respectively.

Jesse Mueller of Phoenix --- tied for eighth with a 13-under 203 (67, 66, 70)
Jeremy Paul of Scottsdale --- tied for 11th with a 12-under 204 (66, 70, 68)
Brett Paquet of Mesa --- tied for 16th with an 11-under 205 (67, 70, 68)
Jake Younan of Payson --- tied for 16th with an 11-under 205 (65, 68, 72)
Sam Triplett of Paradise Valley --- tied for 20th with a 10-under 206 (70, 69, 67)
Zach Smith of Mesa --- tied for 20th with a 10-under 206 (68, 67, 71)
