Two Xavier College Prep golfers won big awards from the Junior Golf Association of Arizona.

Senior Ashley Menne was the girls player of the year in the Championship Division and freshman Annie Dawson was the girls player of the year in the 13-14 Year Division, according to a press release.

A 17-year-old senior, Miss Menne plays on Xavier’s 36-time State Championship golf team. She has won the Arizona Interscholastic Association High School Individual State Title for the past three years.

She also holds a 1.2 handicap and was awarded a full scholarship to play on the women’s golf team at Arizona State University next fall.

Miss Dawson has been playing since she was 5 years old.

“As a freshwoman, I am honored to be part of such an amazing team,” she said in a prepared statement. “The team is so welcoming, and I learn from my teammates on and off the golf course.”
